Tea Towel with Edges

  1. Press tea towel.
  2. Measure and cut fabric strips. The fabric in the middle strip is cut 3 inches wide by the width of the towel (18 inches plus seam allowance – 1 ½ inches) to equal 20 inches.
  3. Measure and cut the two strips for the top and bottom of the middle strip – 2 inches wide by 20 inches.
  4. Press cut fabrics.
  5. Pin fabrics right sides together and sew with ¼ inch seams.
  6. Press flat.
  7. Pin bottom strip with right sides together at the bottom of the towel. Sew just above the hem of the towel.
  8. Press flat.
  9. Turn the top edge of the 3 part fabric strip under ¼ inch and press flat.
  10. Pin all edges under, carefully double folding the seam on the back sides of the towel.
  11. Top stitch on the machine.
  12. Press flat.
