Penguin Winter Block

Materials

  • Wooden Block – 3 ½ Inches X 4 Inches X 2 Inches
  • Acrylic Paint – Black & White
  • Mod Podge™
  • Sharpie™ - Orange
  • Felt – Black & Red
  • White Feather Boa
  • Foamies™ - Orange
  • Hot Glue
  • Wiggle Eyes
  • Pom-Pom – White/ 1 Inch

Project Downloads
  1. Paint Block front with white acrylic paint. Let dry.
  2. Paint two small ¾ inch flat wooden discs with white paint. Let dry.
  3. Draw an oval on the body front using the pattern provided.
  4. Paint around the oval with black acrylic paint. Continue to paint the rest of the block with black paint. Allow to dry.
  5. Paint the entire block with Mod Podge™. Let dry.
  6. Using the pattern provided, trace the feet and beak onto an orange Foamie™ and cut out. Outline the feet with an orange Sharpie™.
  7. Hot glue the two wiggle eyes to the bottom of the two white painted discs.
  8. Hot glue the beak to the front top of the white oval.
  9. Hot glue the two eye discs to each side of the beak.
  10. Hot glue the two feet (pointing up) to the bottom of the white oval.
  11. Cut out two black felt wings using the pattern provided.
  12. Hot glue to each side of the painted block.
  13. Cut out the “Santa Cap” from red felt.
  14. Hot glue the seam to create a cone.
  15. Cut 8 inches of white feather boa for the cap trim.
  16. Hot glue to the rim of the cap.
  17. Hot glue a white pom-pom to the tip of the cap.
  18. Insert a folded chenille stem into the cap with the two ends pointing into the cap point. Flatten the bottom of the stem at the opening of the cap.
  19. Hot glue the stem to the top of the wooden block (on the penguin’s head) off center to the left.
  20. Now, hot glue around the bottom of the cap to the head to secure. Bend the point on the cap to your liking.
