Create your own playing card Halloween costume with this free how-to from Beverly's!
1 yard white felt
1/4-1/3 yard black felt or doe suede
2 yards of black grosgrain ribbon 1-1/2" wide
Cut the felt into two pieces 18"x 33" (double thickness),
fold is at the bottom, the top is open.
Round the corners.
Cut ribbon into 4 pieces, each 18" long.
At the top, glue ribbons between the layers at
4" in from sides.
Glue the two layers of felt together.
Take a playing card (5 of Spades), copy on copy machine.
Cut out the number (5), and both sizes of the suit (spade).
Take the enlargement, and enlarge again, 150-200%.
Make templates from plastic or poster board.
Trace and cut out of the black material:
4 numbers, 4 small suits, 10 large suits
Using the playing card as your guide- Place the numbers and the suits.
I started with the center, then placed the numbers,
1-1/2"fromthetopand V'from the side.
The small Spade 1" in and 1/2"down from the numbers.
I then placed the last large spades approx.
1-1/2"to 2"from the center Spade (2 are upside down).
Glue in place.
