Baby Bibs

Materials

  • 1/3 yard of each print
  • 1/2 yard of 7/8" ribbon
  • 1/8 yard of black tulle (for bee)
  • Sewing machine, needle and thread
  • Pins and scissors

Directions for bumble bee bib

  1. Using pattern pieces cut out 1 each of A, B, & C.
  2. Stitch A & B together using 1/4" seams. Press seam open.
  3. Cut 2 pieces of tulle 4 1/2 x 12"ea. Fold lengthwise and use needle and thread to stitch around raw edges from folded edge to opposite folded edge. Pull thread to gather and pin to right side of bib between dots. Stitch using a 1/8"seam.
  4. Cut ribbon to 15" pieces & pin, right sides together, to top of A allow 1/4" seam on each side.
  5. Pin C to front of bib with right side together being sure to keep ribbon away from edges and leave a 3"opening on the sides to turn bib.
  6. Carefully clip curves & corners, turn right side out & press. Whip stitch opening and sew on eyes.

Directions for ladybug bib

  1. Using pattern pieces cut out 1 each of A, B, and C. Cut 2 each of D and E.
  2. With right sides together and leaving straight edge open, stitch 2 D's using 1/4" seams, clip curves, turn and press. Repeat using E.
  3. Pin Dand E to top edge of B allowing for 1/4" seam on each side and baste in place.
  4. With right sides together stitch A to B, being sure to not stitch thru wings, & press seam open.
  5. Cut ribbon to 15" pieces & pin, right sides together, to top of A allow for 1/4" seam on each side.
  6. Pin C to front of bib with right side together being sure to keep ribbon away from edges and leave a 3"opening on the sides to turn bib.
  7. Carefully clip curves & corners, turn right side out & press. Whip stitch opening & sew on eyes.
